Week 27 – 4th July – I Love The Queen

Happy 4th July! I am in Sydney – opening Tina C. Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word at the Opera House tonight. So I’m posting a new Tina song I wrote a couple of weeks ago. It’s for the new show about Empire and the Commonwealth, and it’s Tina’s song she wrote for anybody from a Muslim country to sing at the new Commonwealth Song Contest. It’s like the Eurovision Song Contest but it’s for Commonwealth Countries. It’s spunkier than the Commonwealth Games – because who doesn’t like their geo-politics wrapped up in sequinned body stockings?

I love the Queen

I love my country
I love the prophet
I love nice ice cream
And I’ll tell you something

I love the Queen
She’s classy, she’s smart, she’s clean
I love the Queen
I would never her demean

I want a woman like the Queen
One I can respect
Not one like my wife
Not one like my mama
Not one like my daughter
I keep em out of sight
Dressed in black, in hijabs
Arousing passions that are obscene
Unlike that lady, I mean the Queen, talking about the Queen

I love the Queen
She’s James Bond, she’s Mr Bean
I love the Queen
She’s what a woman ought to be

Did I say I love the Queen
Talking about the Queen of England!
