Week 19 – 9th May 2014 – Hymn Written On A Train Leaving Ghent

A song I wrote in Belgium and it really was that moment of watching the beautiful landscape and realising how much I was part of the moment and not part of the moment. It’s a beautiful moment that references immense joy and immense pain – the pain and joy of existing and of not existing.

Lyrics:
Hymn Written On A Train Leaving Ghent

All of this would be here if I wasn’t here
I travel lightly, slightly so I’m hardly here
Oh but I am here
I see fields and houses, and so much sun
Makes my heart runs liquid til I’m sick with love for this day
I breathe the feeling away til I’m just here not feeling, just being
And understand, for a fleeting second
That all of this would be here if I wasn’t here

All of those years I spent wishing I wasn’t here
I’d breathe slightly, to spite me, in a love affair with my fear
But I’m still here
I have people who need me and I feel their love
My heart runs liquid and I know it’s enough, I’m enough
I breathe the feeling away til I’m just here not feeling, not being
And understand for a fleeting second
All of this love will be here when I’m no longer here
All of this love will be here when I’m no longer here
