Week 25 – 20 June 2014 – Check Your Pool Boy

Another new Tina C. song.  Thanks for the messages from those who liked last week’s inspirational country anthem.  This is about the athletes who disappear every time there’s a big sporting event like the Olympics or the Commonwealth Games.  Some seek asylum but some just disappear.  Tina heard about this and decided to start seeking these folks out and mindful of the adage that home is where the illegal immigrant is, advises everyone to quiz their staff – especially those on minimum wage, or cash in hand.  Be vigilant people!

Piano played by Duncan Walsh-Atkins.  Vocals by me – in unflattering close up.

Lyrics

Check Your Pool Boy

Everybody got their story
You can hear them buzzing in the air
So why not ask your support staff
Get them to tell you theirs

Say, keep it short, keep it pithy
I want heartbreak, wanna feel pity
I’d like some tears, but I’m kinda busy
And don’t go asking for a kidney

Ask your pool boy was he a swimmer
Was your chef a medal winner
Tell your maid you need to know
Did she win gold at Taekondo

Maybe your driver was a diver
Your babysitters were weightlifters
Embrace them all and don’t annoy
Maybe they took steroids

Check all your cash money workers
Maybe they weren’t always worthless
Maybe they once had dreams and hopes
Formed on 3rd world ski slopes
Do they remember pursuing excellence
Whilst they’re cleaning up your excrement

Check your pool boy, talk to him
Say are you an illegal immigrant
Share his life, he’s a person too
If he trained that hard, he could work harder for you
