Coming back from holiday – trying to achieve smooth re-entry. I caught myself being unsure of which house I currently lived in. Then I had a long conversation with my mother about my grandmother who has dementia. She is showing a lot of interest in her parents and feeling guilty about not going to visit them (though obviously they died decades ago). I had a strong sense of how lucky we are to be held firm by time.
Lyrics:
Be Kind
I forgot where I live
For a second on the airport train
I forgot where I live
I spiralled through remembered front doors
Trying to find mine
Yes they are all mine
I mean mine now
I’ve lost now
Time be kind
Keep me tight
Don’t let me fall
Fall out of time
Keep me in this love
Help me home tonight
Keep me tight
Time be kind
I forgot who I love
On the plane the questionnaire
Single, married, divorced, widowed
I forgot who I love
I spiralled through faces
Smiling at me
So much love
I need love now
Time be kind
Keep me tight
Don’t let me fall
Fall out of time
Keep me in this love
Help me home tonight
Keep me tight
Time be kind
I unpack, I put away
I remember, but I live today
Time be kind
Keep me tight
Don’t let me fall
Fall out of time
Keep me in this love
Help me sleep tonight
Keep me tight
Time be kind
